WE WERE FULL OF ADMIRATION FOR MICHAEL
Fighting though the tears and the pain of grief, Michael Dunlop won the 250cc race at the NW200, two days after his dad had died practising for the same event. Eighteen-year-old Dunlop had a race-long battle with John Mcguinness and Christian Elkin. Both Michael and brother William had to force their way on to the starting grid and Michael’s victory was as popular, as it was emotionally charged. “I had to get the win for my dad, and I did,” he said.
