OK, I’m here. Now what?
Like the competitors, your enjoyment depends on building up your knowledge. After 18 TTS since 1981, I’d suggest you do it like this…
Rule 1 Be early. It gets really, really busy before the course closes for practice or racing.
Rule 2 Learn the circuit. Ride, talk to locals, talk to other fans, use a map, watch videos.
Rule 3 Practice getting round the island on closed roads. Start with the A24 Cooil-foxdale road, the Douglas-to-creg back road, ride across from Brandywell to Barregarrow, and figure out the TT Access Road at Braddan.
Rule 4 Resist the urge to tussle with other riders. Overseas visitors sometimes forget to ride on the left. And hey, the fastest guy on Mad Sunday wouldn’t even come last in the slowest TT.
