Motorcycle News (UK) - - TT 2017 PREVIEW -

Michael Rutter will arrive at the TT fresh from a brilliant week at the NW200. Alongside claiming his 14th victory at the Northern Irish event, the 45-year-old put his Bathams/smt BMW on pole for the Superbike races.

It was Rutter’s fastest ever lap of the 8.9- mile Triangle circuit and augurs well for his TT performances.

“The superbike is flying and we have made some changes to make it more like the stocker which is easier to ride,” he explained.

Currently fifth in the British Superstock championship, Rutter must be a good bet to improve on his fourth place finish in last year’s Superstock race and claim his first TT podium since his third place in the 2105 Lightweight race. The 45-year-old will be amongst the favourites for the Lightweight TT even though he is riding a Paton rather than Ryan Farquhar’s KMR Kawasaki that he won on at Portrush.

Rutter was on flying form at this year’s NW200
