After a shaky start to the season when he didn’t have a superbike to race, the Ballymoney man put in some fine performances at the recent North West 200. A runner-up slot on his IC/ Caffrey Racing Yamaha R6 ahead of brother Michael was the best result of the day but he also enjoyed ninth and 11th place finishes on the ex Mar-train Yamaha R1 now branded in Temple Golf Club livery.
“I am over the moon with the 600cc ride,” the 31-year-old said after taking the race to circuit specialist Alastair Seeley before rain brought his challenge to a premature end.
“It was good to be running at the front again in this company.”
Although he has beaten his younger sibling at almost every venue they have raced, TT success has so far eluded William. His best chance at this year’s event will probably be in the 600cc races. In that class he has finished on the podium three times.
