The first TT
On Tuesday, May 28, the first-ever TT was held – or to give it its proper name, the International Auto-cycle Tourist Trophy. There were just two races – one for twins and one for singles and it was held over the St John’s Short Course of 15 miles. The bikes had to have silencers, saddles, pedals and mudguards. Rem Fowler won the twins race and Charlie Collier won the singles. Only three bikes finished in the twins race and eight in the singles.
