If you’re one of the top com­peti­tors at the TT, then there’s cer­tainly a huge fi­nan­cial ben­e­fit from a highly suc­cess­ful TT. Ian Hutchinson earned some­thing in the re­gion of £75,000 in prize money alone for his in­cred­i­ble 2010 sea­son – prob­a­bly the high­est­pay­ing week left in mo­tor­bike racing as other se­ries slash their ac­tual win­nings – or get rid of them al­to­gether.

On top of that, there’s start money from the or­gan­is­ers (prob­a­bly in the five-fig­ure ball­park for a rider of Hutchinson’s stan­dards) and prob­a­bly a healthy bonus scheme built into his con­tract from BMW and Yamaha this year.
