If you’re one of the top competitors at the TT, then there’s certainly a huge financial benefit from a highly successful TT. Ian Hutchinson earned something in the region of £75,000 in prize money alone for his incredible 2010 season – probably the highestpaying week left in motorbike racing as other series slash their actual winnings – or get rid of them altogether.
On top of that, there’s start money from the organisers (probably in the five-figure ballpark for a rider of Hutchinson’s standards) and probably a healthy bonus scheme built into his contract from BMW and Yamaha this year.
