Kawasaki hits 100
History was made at Donington Park when Kawasaki secured their 100th WSB race win. It all started with Adrien Morillas in 1988, with riders including Aaron Slight, Scott Russell, Anthony Gobert and Akira Yanagawa playing their part before Sykes and Rea ramped up the win rate in recent years.
Only Ducati and Honda have more race wins.
Rea was keen to be the man to take the 100th, as he said after race two: “There was a little bit of pressure, I would say bragging rights, and it was in my brain!”
As for Sykes he notched up his ninth Donington win in a row on Saturday but on Sunday Rea was his nemesis – by 1.601 seconds.
