The M7 RR sits in the mid­dle be­tween a sports tour­ing and a track­day tyre. Tread pat­tern, con­struc­tion, pro­file and com­pounds were all new at the tyre’s launch in 2015. The front is sin­gle-com­pound, made from 100% sil­ica, which gives good wet-weather grip, and the rear is dual-com­pound with soft sil­ica shoul­ders and a hard com­pound un­der­neath.

What are they like?

The Met­zel­ers are im­pres­sive and can han­dle ag­gres­sive ac­cel­er­a­tion with a high de­gree of lean on our BMW S1000RR. Grip and sta­bil­ity while turn­ing the bike into the cor­ner and lift­ing it up again un­der ac­cel­er­a­tion are ex­cel­lent, too. The Sportec M7 RR let our test bike roll nicely into corners, of­fered a very plush, re­as­sur­ing ride and ex­cel­lent sta­bil­ity over the bumps. Un­der hard brak­ing, it gave a big, con­fi­dence-in­spir­ing con­tact patch to play with. Within a hand­ful of corners out of the pits, from cold, the rub­ber started work­ing and gave us the con­fi­dence to lean hard on the tyres.
