Pirelli Diablo Rosso III £250
Pirelli’s Diablo Rosso III tyres are allpurpose sports tyres that fit bang in the middle between a high-mileage, winter sports touring tyre and road compound trackday rubber.
What are they like?
Riding a BMW S1000R, we tested the new Rosso IIIS on dry roads and Pirelli’s wet-weather test track, which features different grip levels of tarmac and mid-corner puddled sections, where a good tread pattern shows its worth.
You can use them all year round, for sports road riding and occasional trackdays, whatever bike you ride. Although they don’t have the outright grip of a sports touring tyre in the wet, they’ll still give plenty of confidence. They’re more durable and warm up faster than trackday rubber and are every bit as grippy on the road. But what’s most impressive is how light and crisp they make the steering at low and high speeds. But this agility doesn’t come at the expense of stability, so the bars won’t dance in your hands when you push hard.
