Continental Sportattack3 £249
Conti promise the biggest improvements on their new sporty road tyre come in longevity and wet performance. They say an increased ‘land-sea ratio’ helps boost the mileage, with more rubber and fewer grooves through the central band of the tyre to reduce wear.
But Conti are making more noise about the improvement in the wet, saying the silica compound offers significantly more grip than on the Sportattack2.
What are they like?
Fitted to a 2016 Suzuki SV650, the Contis immediately gave supple feel for bump absorption and a feeling of connection with the road, transforming a bike that was previously hampered by its OE fitment Dunlops. The lighter steering was the real bonus over the original rubber.
MCN’S Chief Road Tester Michael Neeves also got the chance to hammer around a Spanish track on a Sportattack3-shod BMW S1000RR. He was seriously impressed with the new tyres, saying they provided feel that was more like dedicated trackday tyres than everyday sports rubber.
