Guy Martin crashed on the first lap of the Superbike TT after hitting a false neutral.

Unable to turn the bike he ran wide at Doran’s and hit the kerb and then the wall.

After the race, a clearly shaken Martin said: “It was a big one. I had a box full of neutrals. It’s fast there. I am angry at the bike. It doesn’t like me and it doesn’t like John. It needs time to make it better. The team are brilliant – nobody is at fault.”

Honda Racing team boss Jonny Twelvetrees said: “It was a fast crash. caused by a false neutral, which could happen to anybody. There was nothing broken. The guys have checked the data, although that only tells you so much, and we’ve looked at the bike and there is nothing wrong with it.”

Martin hurt his wrist in the crash and it is now not certain if he will race again in this year’s TT. He is due to race the Mugen in the Zero TT, a CBR600 in the second supersport race and a Fireblade in the Superstock and Senior TT.
