A stunning Senior TT
Michael Dunlop produced a maiden TT win for the Bennetts Suzuki in the blue riband Senior race. The race had to be restarted over four laps after Ian Hutchinson slid off his Tyco BMW at the 27th Milestone. The 37-year-old broke the leg he injured in his 2010 Silverstone BSB crash and was airlifted to hospital.
The interval allowed Dunlop to make some vital suspension changes to the GSX-R1000RR and he always had the measure of the pursuing Hickman, who would finish over 13 seconds back to take his fifth TT podium finish from five starts in second place on the Smith’s BMW. That result was enough to see the BSB star win the Joey Dunlop championship as the solo rider with the best record over the week and secure the Team of the Week trophy for his Smith’s squad. Dean Harrison repeated his Superbike TT feat by claiming third spot on his stock-engined Silicone Engineering Kawasaki as Dunlop’s dominant performance, which included a sub-17 minute Glen Helen to Glen Helen lap, brought the curtain down on a week of highs and
