Hickman: ‘I’m not really a 600 rider’

Peter Hickman proved he’s not purely a big bike specialist after he took an impressive third place on his Trooper Beer Triumph 675 in the Supersport race.

“I’m not really a 600 rider as I’ve not done a lot on them, but I just get faster and faster the more I ride it. I did a 126.8mph, which was the fastest lap of the race so that’s nice.”

Hickman may have set the fastest lap of the race, but was once again a slow starter compared to his main rivals on the opening lap.

“I tend to take a little bit of time to get going, and the weather obviously wasn’t brilliant overnight and I was a little bit cautious under the trees.

“I am still inexperienced compared to some of the other guys who have all ridden in those mixed conditions before,” the 30-year-old added.
