Hutchy run of supersport success ends
Ian Hutchinson’s run of Supersport TT victories came to an end on Monday when he finished fifth in what turned out to be the only Supersport race of the week.
However, it wasn’t a lack of pace that thwarted Hutchinson’s chances of victory. Quick throughout practice, he remained the favourite heading into the four-lap race but with patches of the course still damp after overnight rain, he was unsure of conditions after a big moment on a damp patch at Hillberry – a fourth-gear corner – on the opening lap.
“It wasn’t happening for me today,” Hutchinson said after the race. “But congratulations to the top three for pushing on in those conditions. I had a massive moment on a damp patch at Hilberry and I’m not quite sure how I stayed on!”
Hutchinson was hoping to make amends in the second supersport race, but will now have to wait until 2018.
