BRITISH UNCIVIL WAR
Kurt Nicoll and reigning world 500 motocross champion Dave Thorpe were locked in an epic battle for top honours in 1987. But Thorpe’s season was hit by injury and Nicoll made the most of his arch rival’s absence at the Italian GP. He said at the time: “It’s about time it all came together. Now I’m back in the hunt.” Unfortunately, so was Georges Jobe and he would end the season as champ.
