You can’t hit the nail on the head ev­ery time, and some of the great­est songs ever writ­ten failed to top the charts purely down to bad tim­ing. Re­lease a song at the right mo­ment and it can take the world by storm and sell mil­lions; fail to get your tim­ings cor­rect and you get beaten by Rob­son and Jerome.

And mo­tor­cy­cle man­u­fac­tur­ers run an even greater gam­ble. Hav­ing in­vested mil­lions into re­search and de­vel­op­ment, tool­ing, man­u­fac­tur­ing, mar­ket­ing and ship­ping, some­times bikes sim­ply fail to cap­ture the imag­i­na­tion. But ev­ery now and then, bikes bounce back into fash­ion.

Overnight, flops be­come cool as trends turn and ma­chines that once sat unloved suddenly be­come red­hot prop­erty. MCN has come up with its top ten flops that bombed at their launch, but are now amongst the most sought-af­ter mod­els cur­rently for sale.
