The grounds of the RAC’S Wood­cote Hall were the lo­ca­tion for last week’s pres­ti­gious 2017 Mo­tor Sport Hall of Fame awards. This year the hon­our was posthu­mously awarded to Barry Sheene, who joins the likes of Valentino Rossi, John Mcguin­ness and Gi­a­como Agos­tini. The three mo­tor­cy­cle nom­i­nees this year were Sheene, Mike Hail­wood and Joey Dun­lop, with Bazza ul­ti­mately win­ning the pop­u­lar vote. Mag­gie Smart, Barry’s sis­ter, was on hand to col­lect the award. As a fit­ting trib­ute to his rac­ing legacy, Sheene’s re­cently re­stored 1976 world title-win­ning Suzuki XR14 was rid­den by Fred­die Spencer in a pa­rade lap.
