Marquez fights back after 5 crashes
Cal Crutchlow came away from another Motogp weekend bemoaning what could have been, after a qualifying crash left him too far back on the grid and unable to replicate the pace of the Repsol Honda men who secured podium finishes.
Falling during Saturday’s qualifying, Crutchlow started from 17th. Using the hard rear tyre he was unable to capitalise on anything better than 11th at the chequered flag as he too suffered with tyre degradation on the abrasive circuit.
“Honestly, I was cruising around. I wasn’t even pushing; I was just riding around. We chose the hard tyre thinking it was going to be great and ours was just a joke. But no excuses; it was my own fault qualifying 17th. If I had qualified in the top eight I probably would have gone with a different tactic and gone with the medium rear.
“But I had nothing to lose from 17th and I thought that I would be going towards the podium because I thought everyone would drop, like they did, but I thought I wouldn’t drop as much.”
