‘We’ve earned it’
‘I don’t see another team with two bikes in the top 10 – that’s massive’ NORTON CEO, STUART GARNER

We’ve had two bikes consistently in the top 10, and I’ve not seen anyone else doing that. We’re missing the last milean-hour to the top boys – but we’ll get there. We’re still chasing the top five, but we’ve made another big step this year. Everybody thought we were lucky to get into the top 10 last year, but this year we’ve come and asserted ourselves as top 10 contenders with both bikes. There’s no luck about it, we’ve earned it.
I don’t see another team placing two top 10 bikes like we have. That’s massive. We’ve designed the chassis and bike at Castle Donington, so it’s a massive thing for the reliability of the bike and fabulous for all the guys who have been working on it. From a team perspective, it’s brilliant. Two starts, two riders and four top 10 finishes and a load of 130mph laps.
I look at the people who laughed at us when we started this project, and we’re beating them now. Nobody has built their own bike and come and taken on the top flight at the TT for generations. Of course people were going to laugh at us, it was crazy! It’s taken a lot of engineering, guts, determination and of course money to put it all together. Now, five or six years on, we’re starting to see where we are going and everybody is starting to realise we aren’t as mad as they thought we were.
For me, behind this is the new V4 RR, which is showing all the signs of being a great road bike. The chassis we raced this year is the chassis from the bikes we are selling – it’s a road chassis. This is a great result, and as a factory we are so happy. When you see some of the other teams with new bikes struggling it just shows you how big a task this is.
