Brit team uses a car­bon frame and swingarm for the 250cc racer. It wins Bri­tish cham­pi­onship and gets a 250GP podium.

1990-94

Ca­giva 500GP

Ca­giva was the most no­table GP team to try full car­bon, plus car­bon head­stock/ally hy­brid frame and a car­bon swingarm.

1999

Bi­mota SB8R

Suzuki-en­gined road bike has car­bon swingarm pivot/ally hy­brid chas­sis. It proves suc­cess­ful and in SB8K form, wins in WSB.

2009

Du­cati Des­mosedici GP9

Du­cati ditch steel trel­lis for car­bon frame and swingarm. Casey Stoner says car­bon-framed Du­cati was ‘ best bike on grid.’

2017

BMW HP4 Race and Du­cati Su­per­leg­gera

Man­u­fac­tur­ers launch car­bon pro­duc­tion bikes. BMW is track­only, but Du­cati is road le­gal and has car­bon frame and swinger.
