Winchester to Haywards Heath
Distance 60 miles Why you should ride it The south of the UK isn’t blessed with the best of roads, but the A272 that leads from Winchester to Haywards Heath is certainly an exception. Cutting through the South Downs National Park, this wiggly road is great fun to ride and also shows off some beautiful scenery. If you can spare the time, it is worth dropping down on the A286 towards Chichester and then looping back up on the A285 towards Petworth for an added bit of spice. Fancy a detour? Goodwood is located just outside Chichester and the aerodrome’s café serves cracking food. You may even see a Spitfire taking off.
