Motorcycle News (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

Launched under the banner Motorrad Spezial, BMW have announced their own range of factory-fit parts that buyers can request to be bolted onto their bike in the Berlin factory before it is delivered to their local dealer. And while initially this is only an option on R ninet models and the K1600GTS and R1200RT, if the car world’s model is anything to go by it will soon be rolled out throughout the model range.

The new accessories range, which is called Option 719 after the code that BMW designates to their one-off models, can be bought from a dealer and retro fitted to bikes, but as some of it includes paint, BMW are banking on owners spec-ing their bikes up at the point of order. This can be done either via a virtual design on the Motorrad Configurator or through a good oldfashioned catalogue!

The accessories for the R ninet family are the most striking and include beautifully machined metal items such as rocker covers, seat supports, levers and reservoir covers. In addition, there is a new paint scheme for the R ninet with a Spezial addition involving five layers of paint to give a distressed look to a cool number board. Prices are yet to be confirmed, but the Spezial bikes and parts can be ordered from dealers from August.

Log on and you can have your new bike exactly as you want it
