Motorcycle News (UK) - - GARAGE -

I’ve never felt so clumsy getting on and off a bike as I do on the Honda X-ADV. With the top box fitted it’s difficult to mount the bike in the traditional manner, from the left by cocking your leg over the pillion seat.

The centre console is high and wide, so a hop on the left leg, while trying to feed my right leg through the gap is not particularly elegant or ladylike, either.

An adventure rider suggested I try his technique – and it’s the ideal solution. I now approach the bike from the right, the opposite side to the sidestand, swing my left leg over and tadah, problem solved.

The X-ADV isn’t easily get-on-and-offable
