Paul Anderson is proof that you don’t need to throw a mountain of money at a build. Paul began with the XLH 883 Sportster that he already owned. He replaced the rear wheel with a 19in hoop shod with dirt track tyres, before shortening and reshaping the stock rear mudguard and adding a front mudguard from a Honda minibike. The engine was fitted with a 1200 kit with the carbs re-jetted to suit. He already owned the two-into-two stainless pipes and handlebars, the speedo comes from a bicycle and the skid-plate is from an old fridge shelf. He did nearly everything himself, including embossing the H-D emblem on the tank. Paul only spent £1000 on parts, saying: “I couldn’t spend the money, so I spent the time.”
