Insurance for three quid

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week -

I have a good driving/riding record, and have never made an insurance claim, so I was gutted to find that the insurance on my Triumph Daytona has gone up by £60. I am now reluctantly gathering quotes from as many providers as possible. I say reluctantly because the company I have been with for the last five years are well known and respected and have given me good service. Having got that off my chest, I thought your readers might find some amusement in an earlier schedule of insurance. The premium is amazingly low, partly due to my BSA having a sidecar fitted. It’s even more impressive when you consider I was 17 and on L-plates. The irony is that the 60 quid increase would not only have paid the insurance, it would also have covered the tax and a full tank of petrol, plus the cost of the bike and the Gerrard GP sidecar! I take a grain of comfort that the BSA is still running nicely. Brian Betts, email
