Blair hands over to Brown, smoking is banned in public places and Toseland thinks big ‘It’s time for me to go to Motogp. If I can win a second WSB title I will feel satisfied’
There was a changing of the guard in British politics as Tony Blair handed over the Labour party (and the country) to Gordon Brown and Motogp imposed an 800cc limit (down from 990cc).
While Labour’s musical chairs may not have ended well, the Motogp reform saw Casey Stoner, aboard a Ducati romp away with the 2007 world title – which, to many, was a welcome sight.
Another welcome sight, were images of an anticipated, naked 675cc
Triumph. When the bike finally arrived at the end of 2007 – although spy shots appeared in MCN early in the year – it heralded a new era of feisty naked middleweights and the Street Triple remains a brilliant mix of balls-out riding and a do-it-all long-distance machine (see page 34).
