The first sketch of a mo­tor­cy­cle airbag ap­peared in 1993 from Dainese. How­ever, it was 2000 be­fore the first pro­to­type was in­tro­duced, while Alpines­tars be­gan work on their sys­tem in 2001. The D-air Rac­ing sys­tem was first used in anger at a race in 2007. In 2011 the D-air Rac­ing went to mar­ket. Since then, Alpines­tars has en­tered the mar­ket with the Tech-air Street in 2015.
