One man who put his name in the frame as one to watch at Armoy was the event’s Best Newcomer award winner, Davy Todd. The 21-year-old from Solburn in the north-east of England is in his first year on the roads after moving from British championship racing.
“I am absolutely buzzing to be on the podium,” he said after finishing a brilliant third on his Longshot Racing Kawasaki ZX-6R in the Open race.
Todd raced motocross from the age of six before moving on to Supermoto. “I didn’t try track racing until 2015 and I won the British Thundersport series.” he explained. “I won a couple of races in Junior Superstock last year but I was struggling to find the budget for BSB and I was keen to do the roads.” Todd’s first race with the Northern Irelandbased Longshot Kawasaki team was at Skerries.
