Guy Martin is brave & should be respected

Let’s back Britain’s greatest motorcycling ambassador

Motorcycle News (UK) - - THIS WEEK -

I’m old enough to remember Donald Campbell’s world water speed record attempt at Coniston Water 50 years ago. The media were camped out for days, and TV interviews with him were along the lines of “why aren’t you going today – the water seems calm enough?” We know the outcome. There was no plan B, and only success would appease the sponsors and delight the public. We’ve learned nothing since.

Guy Martin has done more than anyone else could hope to. His bravery is beyond question. If his critics think he’s ‘lost it’, there’s an obvious vacancy for them to fill. Guy has a vision of his future that doesn’t involve the ultimate sacrifice. Why don’t we as a nation applaud him and his ilk for everything they are and do? I’m a massive admirer of the man. Derek Wiggins, email

Could you achieve what Guy has? Go on then...
