VERDICT ‘None are built down to a price’

MICHAEL NEEVES CHIEF ROAD TESTER

Motorcycle News (UK) - - FEATURE -

These fab four machines prove a little cash goes a long way. None is built down to a price, scrimps on build quality or lacks the fun factor. They’re all comfortably less than seven grand, except the Versys 650, and all cheerfully cost around £78 a month on PCP. Yamaha’s MT- 07 continues to impress after all these years and it’s the cheapest here, making it the pick of our 700s. The new Ninja 650 is hot on its heels and is a grown-up, practical sportsbike that won’t break the bank. Another Kawasaki completes our lucky-seven podium – the mile-munching Versys 650 – and bringing up the rear is the pleasingly perky, entry-level Harley-davidson Street Rod.

MICHAEL WATERHOUSE, MCN READER remember most was taking it on a club trip to Wales, when the rain poured down for two days. Following a couple of excellent, ex-police riders, my Tiger handled so well it hugely boosted my confidence. For that reason, it will always be one of my favourite bikes.”

The Tiger 1050 has that effect on people: lots of them.

Fab four make for a great group test
