The boss of Hawk Racing. He has been involved with building race engines since the 1980s and has built both the team’s previous BMW S1000RR and current GSX-R1000 race engines, which both use finger followers. “Contrary to popular belief, finger followers are not something new to bikes. However, they offer a potential gain in maximum power over the more conventional bucket and shim design. Used to activate the bike’s valves, the system uses offset camshafts, with small finger followers each working on their own valve.”
