‘ Don’t panic. Petrol engines are here to stay’

UK can’t produce enough power for electric bikes

Motorcycle News (UK) - - This Week -

Please, please don’t worry about the petrol ban in 2040. Why? Because it’s a pipe dream! Here are the facts. France came up with the proposal for banning petrol cars and are in a good position to be able to provide the infrastructure to carry it out. This is due to the fact that France has a massive over-production of electricity. 58 nuclear power stations produce 75% of the nation’s power. Here 15 nuclear power stations currently produce 18% of our electricity. Seven, and possibly eight, of those stations will go off line by 2025. Only one new station is so far proposed. An electric car policy from 2040 would put an extra 40% demand on the national grid and that power is simply not there. So keep on biking with that lovely petrol for decades to come. Is there the electricity out there to replace petrol power?
