Sport Glide Indian FTR1200
Harley embarked on a revolution earlier in 2017 with the release of a whole new family of Softails that succeeded the old family, and completely absorbed the Dyna dynasty into its new chassis platform. But they weren’t quite finished, and this new Sport Glide is yet another sibling.
This ninth model in the Softail family is a cut-down bagger at the more affordable end of the range, that can wear bags and a screen one minute, and neither a minute later – making it, Harley say, ideally suited for both commuting and light touring.
Run of the mill
The engine is the smooth and punchy Milwaukee-eight 107, and helping push it through the air is a scaled down Batwing inspired cowl to take some blast off the rider, while leaving their head in a clean airflow. It’s secured with quick-release clamps so that it can be added and removed in seconds, and there is a taller screen available. The 25.5-litre panniers have an internal quick-release mechanism. It’s also first H-D to wear directionally designed wheels. It’ll cost £14,995 when it arrives at the end of January.
