Not enough metal on show for the next generation
As a person in my 30s I’m shocked at how many of the bikes revealed at this year’s EICMA are café racers. It’s so frustrating because not all of us experienced that period or want to. We will not attract new riders by constantly trying to recapture nostalgia. The average rider age is increasing because there is nothing to excite new riders and if you want to buy an exciting new bike you have to remortgage your house – eg the Kawasaki H2 SX. I just think too much market research into the fads and ever-increasing prices will slowly kill it. Also, the snobbery of some of us bikers is putting off the young riders – I have seen some right rude folks on my daily commute. Rant over.
