Bikes are the best

Here’s why bikes are great: 1) At the Sunflower meeting I witnessed BSB star Danny Buchan step off the podium and hand his cap to a kid who was delighted. 2) In Motogp when the camera focuses in, especially on the kids in Moto3, they are all smiling and giving it the thumbs up. Not like F1 where you would think someone had stolen their Christmas presents. Colin Logue, email

The right trousers

Just to let you know I bought the Weiss Seattle jeans as tested by Bruce Dunn in MCN and these are really great. I had to buy a size above normal to get a good fit, but they are well worth the money. Your paper is much improved recently and I’ve been reading it since 1959. Bill Suttie, email

Rea couldn't beat Cal

So Jonathan Rea reckons he would have done better than Cal Crutchlow in Motogp. Well, he didn’t quite cut it in 2012 did he and if he is so sure he could do better than Cal then why didn’t he take up the satellite rides he reckons he was offered? Cal himself is now one of the ‘aliens’ beating or being amongst the other leaders in a lot of races, all on a satellite bike. Rea may have won a lot of WSB races and titles since he went with Kawasaki, but where was he before then? A nearly man! Keith Devlin, email

Don't stop me now

I popped to a local bike specialist in London today and a young lad on a scooter turned up with his front disc in bits. He said he didn’t spend money on his bike as “it’s only gonna get stolen anyway.” Paul Scott, email

Proper warm welcome

Great piece by Adam ‘Chad’ Child on Squires café and I couldn’t agree more (MCN, October 24). We even got my mum Dot to go when in her nineties. She passed away earlier this year but was always supportive of her three bike nut sons (helped by having a biker dad too). Here’s Phil, Dot and me (l to r) enjoying a sunny afternoon at Squires. Mum did the Squires norm wandering round the bikes and chatting to everyone. Robin Smith, email

He wasn't going to get much stopping power out of that

Phil, Dot and Robin proving you're never too old for Squires
