‘I’ve just taken up enduro riding’
Howard Carter, 52, Shoreham
My wife thinks I’m having some sort of mid-life crisis but the truth is I’ve always liked to push myself. I’ve enjoyed windsurfing and road cycling all my life and after talking to a local friend who races, I really fancied giving enduro a go, too. It’s mentally and physically very tough (dare I say even tougher than the cycle racing I compete in) but it’s also very enjoyable, and hugely rewarding. You have to really concentrate hard on your chosen route through the terrain. I love it. It gives me the biggest buzz out of all the sports I undertake and to learn something completely new at the age of 52 is just brilliant!
