"I looked at either the Benelli TRK X or the

Kawasaki Versys I test rode the Versys first and to be honest I wasn't really taken by it. It just seemed a bit dull. Ialmost took it back after two miles, but decided to give it a fair try. I ended up doing about miles on it ,but still wasn't keen on it.

"I then tried the Benelli in the afternoon. I'd kind of expected it to be nowhere near as good as the Versys, partly because of the price difference and because of its Chinese build. Within half-a-mile of riding I was smitten by it. I did about miles on test and could have taken one home the same day. Five things I like about it: It looks the part; it's very comfortable for long distance; it has a centre stand as standard; ABS is switchable; and last but not least, the price. Things I don't like: it's heavy; the brakes are a little soft for my liking; and Metal Mule don't make pannier frames for it yet. Otherwise, all good."
