SMOOTH ACTION MEN AND FAST CARS

My Weekly Special - - Contents -

If you wanted action Steve McQueen was the man who loved fast cars and motorbikes and did most of his own film stunts. “The only time I really honestly relax is at speed in a fast car or on a bike,” he once admitted. “If trouble comes up you want to be cool enough to cope with it. I think a cool guy with a fast car can be ver y popular.”

Roger Moore was looked cool in a fast car whether he was 007 or The Saint. “Nice cars, either spor ty and fast or huge and elegant, are par t of your dress code,” he once said. “What lady wants to be taken out for dinner on a tandem bike?”

Tom Cruise is still filling cinemas and likes nothing better than to roar around the countr y in a fast car. “I don’t know if cars and speed attract the ladies,” he said. “Probably they do, but the car has to look good and the driver has to know what he is doing. No lady wants to be frightened to death or have her hair knotted by the antics of some lunatic behind the wheel. Ladies like a man to be in control – even at 120 mph.”
