Keep It Blooming Lovely!
It is essential for both bees and flowering plants that our happy little pollinators get a chance to do their stuff. Bees are attracted to yellow, blue and purple flowers, the brighter the better. Lavender is a big hit, as are heather, honeysuckle, cornflowers and sweet pea. Try to keep your garden – or patio pots – in bloom for as long as possible, planting groups of flowers to show their petals at different times throughout bee season, from March until late August/early September. Bees love flowering herbs too so keep your herb garden cheerful with rosemary, thyme and marjoram. Varying the height of plants in your garden also makes for happy bees.
