Carol Smillie on keeping perfect pins

No. 1 Magazine - - FRONT PAGE -

As they age, almost all women suffer from small, annoying and sometimes unsightly blue thread veins on their legs.this is particularly true for most women who have had children. So when Carol Smillie became acutely self-conscious of the blemishes on her legs, which had started her career, she knew she needed a solution that didn’t involve hiding them under long skir ts or stockings. Carol said, “I found out about Face & Body through a friend. I’m quite sceptical about these sort of things, however when I read through the list of treatments I realised it wasn’t all scary things. I realised there were a quite a few things I removal on my legs which was incredibly effective. It wasn’t painful, it was quick and I would say give it a try. What have you got to lose?” Carol visited the Face & Body cosmetic clinic in Edinburgh where she had Sclerotherapy injection treatments on her legs to safely and permanently remove the thread veins. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution called Sclerovein causing their lining to become sticky. Compression is then applied by wearing a compression stocking which closes and seals the veins resulting in them fading away. “Really the results were quite amazing - so that kind a spurred me on and I thought what else could I do. And the other great irritation in my life constantly was hair removal on my legs – I had done waxing, I had done epilation and I had done shaving – it’s boring. I thought I would try the laser hair removal and that to me has been absolutely amazing – I love it. “It’s permanent, it’s quick, it’s painless. I it done, but that’s it. I’m hair free on my legs forever more.” Carol’s laser treatments at Face & Body were performed using a Candela Alexandrite Gentlelase laser - regarded as the world’s most effective permanent hair removal laser with a proven safety track record. It works by focusing a laser beam at the base of the hair follicle, stopping hair growth and requires a course of six treatments to capture all hair follicles during the cyclic growth. “Tot up in your mind what you have spent over the years on having hair removal treatments done every six weeks, or more sometimes, and I’ll probably cheaper. Both my daughters have had it done now as well, which I think as a mum is a really wonderful thing to be able to give them. Because when I think of what they would spend in the fourth coming years on hair removal – I’ve probably saved them a fortune, but it’s cost me – don’t know how that works – but anyway that’s a mum rule.”

A course of six laser treatments for hair free legs costs £1,100 Sclerotherapy treatments start at £75 are available at Face & Body Cosmetic Clinic in Edinburgh
