Our Columnist Competition Winner

No. 1 Magazine - - FRONT PAGE -

How did you feel when you were announced as the winner?

I was a little shocked as the other contestants all had fabulous stories and I knew I was up against some tough competition. However, I was extremely happy and delighted to discover I was the winner. I am super excited – it feels a little surreal. I am very humbled and grateful to all of the wonderful people that voted for me.

Have you had any feedback on your winning column?

Yes, I have had tremendous support from my friends and family. They were very complimentary of my writing – lots of people said it made them laugh, one in particular said she had been feeling really low and it brightened up her day. That’s the main purpose of my writing.

Where does you love of writing come from?

I have always loved writing little stories and I love to make people laugh or smile. I like to find the funny things in life and write about them. Any stories I have written were just for me to pass the time of day or to record memories, then by chance I picked up No.1 and saw the columnist competition – I thought I would send in my entry and if nothing came of it then that would be that. But it feels like fate and I really do feel so lucky.

Can you give readers a quick insight into your next column?

I really think people are wondering what happened to Pops ashes, so it would be rude of me not to let them know where they ended up.

We put the fate of our potential new columnist in your hands and now it’s time to uncover the winner... “I want my writing to really make people laugh and smile at the funny things in life.”
