Real-life Weddings

No. 1 Magazine - - FRONT PAGE -

From their dream dress to the perfect venues, these No.1 brides tell us all about their big day...

‘The sun was shining and I felt really peaceful’

We met... In a local pub, I was drowning my sorrows after failing my driving test. The proposal... Stephen proposed on holiday to Florida on the pier at Cocoa Beach. Biggest help... My mum! She’s very creative and helped me come up with a few special ideas to make the day unique. Theme... The wedding had a spring pastel theme with a bit of shabby chic thrown in. Nerves... I was really calm until about 15 minutes before the ceremony when the nerves really kicked in. A few deep breaths sorted me out. Highlight... The sun shining during our outdoor ceremony, I remember feeling really peaceful as we were saying our vows, I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be.

‘The day was brilliant, I smiled from start to finish’

The proposal... When Graeme proposed I really didn’t have a clue it was coming. He learned how to make my favourite breakfast, then he asked me. It was a double surprise. Theme... It was very traditional. I tried to source everything locally and use people we knew. Nerves... Strangely not at all. My sister who was my bridesmaid was so nervous she fainted at the alter. I was very excited and very late! Highlight... The whole day was brilliant. I smiled from start to finish and there was lots of laughter. The band were fantastic and had the dancefloor full all evening, which was great. Advice... We only gave ourselves eight months to plan the entire wedding! I’d say get your dress sorted first as it takes ages to get altered.

‘Billy proposed in Paris, so we chose that as a theme’

We met... At a speed dating night. Billy was my last date of the evening and we hit it off straight away. The proposal... Billy proposed on top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. I didn’t know he was going to, but I was really hoping that he would. Theme... Paris! We had flower arrangements with Eiffel Towers on the tables. We named the tables after places of interest in Paris. The seating plan was an old map of Paris and we had chocolate crepes as one of the desserts. Highlight... One highlight of the day was my five-year-old niece Rebecca saying a little poem during the ceremony. I was so proud! Advice... Keep focused on what’s important, as long as you marry the person you love and your loved ones are there, everything else is a bonus.
