The Christmas dinner is the most-stressed-about meal of the year. A study found that half of people in the UK find preparing the turkey and trimmings is the most challenging task – probably because one in 10 spend six-plus hours in the kitchen. That same survey, commissioned by Magimix in 2013, also found that people are under the greatest pressure at 12.56pm on Christmas Day. Avoid turkey-related tension by introducing shop-bought short-cuts and preparing the majority of veg peeling the day before, says chef and food writer John Gregory-smith. He also says, “sack off the starter”, adding: “Concentrate on the main event and it will save you so much grief.”
