The New Year is naturally a time when we reflect on our achievements, and where we want to go next. A survey in early 2016 estimated that nearly half of UK workers said they would look for a new job this time last year, while a fifth of them were already searching for a new opportunity. The reasons people are hungry for a change in their career is because 43 per cent feel poorly managed and 39 per cent do not feel valued. Pay is another reason; say 38 per cent of people of the 2,000 people who took part in the poll at the end of 2015 by Investor People. So before you leap into action, think about why you feel this way. Take time to understand exactly what you want to change: your job, the company, or your whole career path? Pause to reflect, consider and plan and you’ll reap the benefits.

Look before you
