It’s all part of your big entrance, so you’ve got to make it count...

It’s natural you want to make a grand entrance on your wedding day, but the dress isn’t the only thing that will make a lasting impression, so will your big arrival, therefore the choice of transport should always be a priority. Today, brides and grooms arrive at their ceremony in style, and you should be no different. But considering the wide range of vehicles currently on offer, it’s not a decision to be taken lightly. Will you opt for a fleet of traditional wedding cars like Rolls Royces, Mercedes, Bentleys or Jaguars, which ooze style and class? Or will the beautiful Beauford – complete with soft-top roof just in case it rains – lure you? Are you tempted by quirky mode of transport – like a camper van, white hackney taxicab, motorbike, stretch Hummer or vintage corporation bus? Because they create a real spectacle on your special day, many brides and grooms choose a less-traditional option to surprise their guests, and sometimes, each other! And just as the rule about a bride wearing white is more flexible these days, so is the colour choice when it comes to cars! White saloons are no longer the go-to colour, with black, silver and gold being favoured by soon-to-be-wed couples, and have you seen the pastel-coloured camper vans and Beetles now available? Whatever you choose, make sure that your cars reflect your personality. Some car-loving grooms even opt to drive themselves, and their best man, to the venue in their dream car, whether it is a James Bond-style Aston Martin, a sporty Ferrari, or the luxurious Bugatti Veyron – is this something your other half has mooted? Hiring cars to transport you (and your groom, separately) to your ceremony venue, and then from there to the reception, can cost anything from £100 (for one car) to more than £1,000, so be sure to factor this in to your budget. Besides the style of car, there is also the number to think about. How many of the wedding party will be travelling together? Will more than one run be required? What about after the ceremony and on to the reception? How long have you got with the vehicle before, during and after? Work out all these details before booking your transport. Once you have ticked ‘transport’ off your to do list, be sure to make good use of your chosen vehicle in the photographs. Cool cars, whatever the make or model, provide the perfect backdrop for pre- and postwedding shots.
