Your skin is the largest, and fastest growing organ of the human body, but it is also constantly renewing itself. Did you know that in a lifetime, you grow 1,000 new layers of skin? That’s because when cells die off, they are replaced with new ones. Because this important organ repairs itself as you sleep, you should try to get around eight hours of sleep a night for your skin’s sake, and always wash your face before bed. Changing what you eat is also another way of keeping your skin healthy (see page 38), as well as wearing sun protection factor (SPF) in the sun.
