‘Our home is most certainly a fab party flat, we often host a party or two!’
We didn’t know Templeton too well, and coming from the west end of Glasgow we weren’t too sure, but we fell in love with the apartment.
The space and light is amazing, and the building is pretty special too. Historically the Green (Glasgow Green) was a very affluent area and wealthy local citizens did not want to overlook a typical factory so this carpet factory was designed and built based on the Doge’s Palace in Italy. It was then converted 10 years ago into the apartments and office space that stand today.
We rented the apartment initially then decided to buy the following year.
The landlord was a DIY enthusiast but, in fact, It was a DIY disaster so once we purchased it we had to fix lots of issues. The bathroom’s plumbing was insane, with a floating sink that was far from stationary!
We decided that the bathrooms really needed redoing, and properly.
After painting the main bathroom a dark blue, we were initially unsure but it reminds me of a spa which is nice to relax and unwind in.
We would like to redo the kitchen, tile the walls and make better use of the space.
We have also recently found a covered up area within the apartment where we could potentially extend. We are strongly considering doing this as it would gain us an extra room which would be amazing.
The space as it stands just now though works very well for us.
We work from home quite often, so it was important for us to be able to close the door on a working day to enjoy our home and living area. We decided to make our bedroom a technology free area – no computers, phones or TVS allowed!
Our home is most certainly a fab party flat, and with it being local to the city centre we often host a party or two!
Our favourite room is the living area, because it’s comfy and bright, and we are surrounded by some of our prized possessions. Plus, the lovely views over Glasgow Green all year round are stunning. Gillian loves her pink armchairs which I bought her as a surprise after she fell in love with them on a local website! Being a creative couple, Christopher and Gillian enjoyed introducing vibrant colours into their apartment, and particularly love their framed artwork adorning the boldly painted walls.
