As one of the biggest success stories of recent times, JK started out her writing as a single mother sat in a café in Edinburgh and created some of the most loved literary characters in history. Not only did JK write the Harry Potter books which became the best-selling series of books ever, she was very much involved in the extremely successful films, obtaining control and script approval on every single one. She’s since gone on to write stand-alone novels, a play, the script for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which is now confirmed to be one of six movies and rake in a reported £600 million in the process. Not bad for someone who was on benefits and living in a flat with no heating when she first started writing Harry Potter. She’s also a passionate ambassador for various charities.

SECRET TO SUCCESS: PUT IN THE TIME “You have to resign yourself to wasting lots of trees before you write anything really good. That’s just how it is.”
