Q: DO YOU REALLY NEED TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON GOOD MAKE-UP?
There are so many great brands on the high street now that you don’t actually need to splash out for quality on most products. The best advice is to save the majority of your budget to splurge on good base items, ie. a good foundation, concealer and face powder – this is where you often do get what you pay for. But when it comes to colour cosmetics like lipstick, blusher and eye make-up there are tons of options at low price points. Some of my favourite affordable colour brands are:
They have so many great shades, but I adore the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (as mentioned in the autumn swaps), Rome is my go-to for daytime, give it a try.
L’oréal’s primers work really well yet are very affordable. But special mention needs to go to the mascara selection which is great. False Lash Telescopic Mascara is the best of the bunch if you’re looking for serious length. Their nail varnishes perform better than Chanel in my opinion, especially when you finish off with the Diamond Top Coat. Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine is also cheap as chips and is good if you need to do your nails in a hurry, Caramel Cupcake is a great low maintenance day-to-day shade.
Their blushes have always been popular and for good reason, the formulation is good and one little pot lasts ages.
The liquid lipstick range is fab but the stand out from this range is their eyeshadow palettes, great colour selection at an amazing price point.
