CONQUER CHLORINE

No. 1 Magazine - - SCOTLAND’S NO.1 FOR HEALTH & BEAUTY -

Whether your hair is au naturel or you’ve got hair extensions in, we’ve all tried to avoid dunking our heads under the water when we’re splashing around with the kids in the swimming pool due to the worry that the chlorine will ruin our manes. Chlorine can strip out the natural oils in your hair, leaving it dry and brittle. It’s not great for hair that’s been coloured or permed either – in a nutshell, chemical hair treatments and chlorine just don’t make for a healthy combination. Before you take a dip in the pool, wet your hair with fresh tap water to slow down the chlorine absorption. Once it’s wet, apply some coconut or Moroccan oil to act as a guard once you enter the pool. Just as you’d make sure to protect your skin from the sun’s sun harmful rays, it’s important to do the same for your hair. Add some water resistant UV protection to your summer hair care routine ro – not only will this save your locks but it will also help to protect your scalp too!
